Poe by Katelyn,Alexis and Emily

,Edgar Allan Poe was 1 year old when his father left him and his mother died of tuberculosis a few months later. Afterwards he was adopted by the Allan family and his step mom died of tuberculosis. When Poe was a teenager he did many drawings and wrote many stories and would invite his friends over to see them. It was hard to tell if he would be an artist or a writer. Later he joined the army and came back home to live with his aunt and cousin. Poe's cousin, Virginia, was going to be moved to a different family but Poe didn't want to leave her because he loved her. Poe and Virginia got married when she was only 13 years old. Virginia loved to sing. She would always sing for Poe and her friends. One night she started coughing up blood and Poe knew that she had tuberculosis. After Virginia died Poe wrote "The Raven" and made many connections to her. He also tried to find a new wife so he would not die alone. One night Poe went missing and was found unconscious in the street. He died later that night. Poe only earned 14 dollars from "The Raven" when he was alive but all of his stories became much more famous after his death.

Theories on Edgar Allan Poe's death:
1)Rabies:Doctors don't exactly know if Poe had rabies since there was no autopsy, but based on his condition a few days before his death he had rabies, possibly from cats.
2)Alcoholism:He went to a tavern after voting and was found on the side of a street unconscious by his friend and his uncle. They took him to a hospital where he often lapsed in and out of consciousness.
3)Delirium Tremens: Because it was know he was an alcoholic, people thought that he died from liver problems, or Delirium Tremens, a condition that alcoholics suffer from.
