Poe by Dominique, Maria, and Maddy

Edgar Allen Poe 

Edgar Allen Poe was born in Boston Massachusetts January 19 1809. A year after he was born his parents separated, Elizabeth Poe ( his mother) got the children. His mother died shortly after and he was orphaned. John and France's Allen took him in as there own I'm Richmond Virginia but they never formally adopted him. Poe attended the University of Virginia for one semester but dropped out due to the lack of money in 1826. A year after he wrote and printed his first book "Tamerlane and other poems". In 1826 Poe enlisted In the U.S army attaining the rank of sergeant major. Poe switched His focus to prose and spent the next few years literary journals. His work caused him to move to Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York. In 1835 he married His 13 years old cousin Virgina. In 1845 he published "The Raven"  His wife died of tuberculosis two years after its publication. He began planning to produce his own journal, The Penn , though he died before it could be produced. On October 7, 1849, at age 40, Poe died in Baltimore. There are many theories on his death but the cause of his death is still unknown.
