The Outsiders by: S.E. Hinton

I am Ponnyboy from "The Outsiders" I live in a neighborhood where these two groups constantly fight. The names of the groups are the Socs and Greasers. Personally I'm a greaser and the Socs are just a bunch of rich kids who get everything handed to them. In this neighborhood it's advised not to walk alone or you'll most likely get jumped. Lucky for me though I have my crew. They also come when I'm in need of help of anything. They're honestly family and we'll always stick together. My two brothers are also in the crew so they also always have my back as brothers and crew members.

There's one person in the crew who's basically my best friend. His name is Johnny and he's been through a lot in his life. To be honest I don't even know how Johnny cakes hasn't tried to kill himself. I just hate to seem him give up and be miserable. Maybe he realizes we are his family, and we'll go through anything for Johnny!

The Socs now, they're snooby rich kids! Always jumping us for no reason, so we gotta fight back. Right? Once Johnny got jumped by 3 of them. We found Johnny bloody, beat up, and unconscious. He was scared for life after that, more scared than usual. I feel really bad for him, because his life is already rough enough.

  1. I am wondering how you think the conflict between the Socs and Greasers will end. Why does Ponyboy think that Johnny's life is so horrible? Does Ponyboy enjoy being in a gang? I would like you to comment on your thoughts. Not to ruin it for you...but the conflict so far is just the beginning. Lots more to come!

  2. Hello Mrs. Davis, I appreciate your comment. Now, your question with how do I think the conflict between the Socs and the Greaser be resolved? To be honest it won't end! Socs and Greasers are just the exact opposite, and they could never get along in a million years.

Johnny life is just rough and depressing. His parents don't care about him at all, and he always gets abused. He sometimes talks about committing suicide. Towards the end of the book he almost dies, and is now basically crippled for life! He did it all just to save lives of children.

Ponnyboy boy isn't really in a gang. It's just a group with his brothers and friends. He enjoys being in the crew a lot because, they're all like family and have each others backs no matter what happens.
